I am shopping for a subcut to replace my JD755, my garden tractor, and my ztr mower. I'm not a newbie, and I know a subcut will do what I need to do. Maybe you folks can help cut down my research a bit though. :)<br>

I can buy JD, Kubota, IH, NH, & Cub Cadet. I'd like to know:<br>

-Any have a MMM that's QUICK to remove?<br>

-Any have position control on 3PH?<br>

-Any have foldable ROPS?<br>

-Any that FEL is not easy to remove & install?<br>

-allow me rotate my 60" rear blade while on the hitch?<br>

I'm not worried about lift capacities, flow rates, etc. I used to worry about things like that, till I realized it only leads to premature aging and insanity.<br>

Believe it or not, new oil (and filter) can cure hydro problems like that. I experienced it first hand on a large garden tractor. I did not believe an oil change could make that difference, but it did.

That price is a steal, given the facts as you have laid them out. Yes, you should be able to use it for a couple of years and sell it for what you paid, or more, if that is your plan.
I would hustle up the money real quick if I was you.

I think that with 22 acres and some heavier work in mind, you'd be happier in the long run with the bigger buggy. It's not that the 790 won't do the work, it's that the 990 or equivalent is a more appropriate match for the job.

We might sell the belly mower from our 1320. First I have to convince my partner to go along with the plan. What does a 60" belly mower add to the cost of a new tractor? Any ideas on what we should be able to get for it? It's in very good shape.

I know there are not too many 1320 owners here, but this might be similar to some other Ford/NH models. My 1320 has a 3 speed hydro. I notice that in both forward and reverse, when I let off the pedal, it does not come to an immediate stop. Instead it often continues rolling under some power. My JD 755 hydro stops like RIGHT NOW when I let off the pedal. What does your Ford/NH 20 series do?

Maybe I just have to lube the pedal pivot or linkage or something...

I had no problems with the skid shoes leaving grooves.
My skid shoes are convex disks, not smaller steel straps.
An 8N will do fine pushing snow with a back blade.

In a case like this where the two models are equally capable, don't bother with comparing specs. I see people obsessing on specs all the time. People say "but this one lifts more on the 3PH, but that one flows a half gallon more per minute on the hydraulics, yada yada yada..." Fuhget about it. What is important is which tractor feels right to you, which dealer you would rather use, etc. Not whether one lifts 100 pounds more.

My best guess is that you might get around $15,000 for the whole shebang. IMO, anyone who buys all that for $15,000 is getting a **great** package.
I figure the package value as follows:
Tractor/FEL/Mower: $11,000
Backhoe: $3,000
Other stuff: $1,000

I paid $9,500 a year and a half ago for a 1998 755 4wd 600 hours with FEL, rear finish mower, and tiller. At first I thought that was a steal, but over time I realize it was just a good deal. Nothing wrong with it, it is a great unit, but I just realized that the price was right but not spectacular. So I bumped your bigger 855 and JD mower up accordingly.

I'd drive to your place to buy the hoe if you want to break up the package. You might get more money that way.

ZTRs don't do snow very well.
Plus, they are not to everyone's liking for mowing either. I have used one several times. It mows faster. But it is not as relaxing as using a garden tractor. If you take your hand off the controls to scratch your nose or take a drink, you veer off course. A ZTR is faster but more work, IMO, making it a personal choice.

We have had an older FMC rotary brush mower for 30 years or so. The blades will pivot if they hit something but they won't move if you just push on them by hand.
So now we bought a new generic-type unit at the farm store. Its blades just pivot around like crazy. It makes funny noises when running and I'm thinking that the blades might be pivoting back and forth a little on each rotation depending on what they are cutting through at a given moment. Should they be a little tighter, or totally free to pivot with no resistance???

Gator, don't feel bad for continuing to think this over. You have added some more info and I thought maybe I could comment on it.
Tire size: If you are having a rough ride now, you would be right to go to something with bigger tires. If that eliminates the BX, well, there's a reason.
Filled tires: If you have a septic field to worry about, I'd try to make the ballast removable. Like a box scraper blade or rear blade and maybe some additional weight hung on it.
Power: There is a huge difference in the working ability of the units you are considering vs your Wheel Horse. I would expect a commensurate difference in mowing or snowblowing.
Mid vs rear mower: Your reason for a mid mower is as good as any.
Clearing the parking area: You'd be able to do a decent job with the FEL on that, I think. Good enough, anyway.
I would have said the BX with FEL sounds perfect, until you commented on the tire size. You don't need anything more than 20-ish gross HP, but it sounds like you'd like bigger tires.
Finally, even if you buy a compact, you might want to hang on to the WH for a while. Keep it under a nice tarp or something. Then you have a spare, or a kids machine, or whatever. Just a thought.

I think you'd be well above $15,000 for the tractor setup. Close to $20,000 would not surprise me. I am assuming 4wd.

The various imiplements, you could probably figure 60-70% of new if they are in nice shape.

This spring I purchased a 98 755, 600 hrs, 70 loader, 4wd, turf tires, rear finish mower and well-used tiller, for $9500. I think that was a little on the cheap side. $7500 might be a fair price for yours.

My opinion is that you are buying a bigger machine than is needed for a 60" mower. If I was mowing 6 acres, I'd be looking at a 72" mower, minimum. I think the 4200 is the minimum in the Deere line for 72", in a belly mower.

If you want a 60" mower, you can look at the 400 series Deere garden tractors, or their 4100. The Kubota BX would be another good 60" machine.
